Automatización del servicio de Agua Potable

Automation of the Drinking Water service

Details

The project carried out consisted of the automation of the drinking water service in the town of San Jerónimo Norte, province of Santa Fe, through the implementation of speed variators.

This new system allows, thanks to the possibility of configuring the acceleration and deceleration ramps in the variable speed drives, a soft start of the pumps, thus avoiding the water hammer produced when braking the motor and drives pumps to run at their most efficient point. The latter translates into a lower energy consumption and in a prolongation of the useful life of pumps, wells and pipes.

Through this automation, pump rotations, operating timings and backups in case of possible failures are achieved. This will allow the pumps to wear out in a balanced way and, in the event of one failure, another will be activated to replace it until the problem is solved and normal operation returns. In addition, a central panel was manufactured from where the entire system is commanded and its correct operation can be monitored.

To carry out the tasks of control and supervision of the process, a SCADA system, which provides all the information generated in the process (supervision, control, data storage, etc.) and allows its management and intervention in a simple way.

This type of automation can be implemented in any type of process that includes the use of pumps
